DirectorsDirectors are another fun part of the game. These are the referees overseeing your bout. However, they can be kind of quirky to say the least and you’ll need to alter your fencing style to earn a touché. So in a sense, you’re fencing two people, your opponent and the Director. But while Directors can make a bout difficult, there are ways around them. The first is to draw a new director using a card from your play deck. The second is to bribe it. Unless otherwise mentioned on their card, Directors require 4 bribes of the same kind to get them to agree with you – and then they will say anything you want them to say: repeal a touche, a card, an argument, etc. It's entirely up to you how you want to play your bribe. However, bribing the Director is dangerous. If you bribe the Director and your opponent plays both the Caught card and the Bout Committee card, you will receive the fatal Black card and the game ends with you as the loser. A player can bring as many types of Directors to the game as desired but may not bring 2 of the same kind to the game. However, there can be 2 of the same kind of Director if your opponent also brings the same Director to the game. Back |
